ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

The artenero.com.au website is an open and free access reference, part of an ongoing project to document the processes used to create cast and fabricated art/design works. Aspects of professional practice such as budgeting, insurance, transportation and contracts are also included here. Given the worldwide skills shortage in many technical disciplines, documentation is one way of exchanging and archiving valuable information.

The core content of the bronze casting section of the website was researched at the Courtauld Institute, National Art Library (V&A), and University of London King's College libraries in London during the mid 1990’s. The resulting work was first published in print form as "Art Founding, Process & Practice" (ISBN 0-9542461-0-1 [2002]). In both the earlier print and this revised electronic revision, the text is based on practical workshop and project experience, involving collaborations with artists, designers, technicians, architects and engineers. Without their exceptional creative and technical skills, this web site would not be possible. The majority of the technical material within the text has been proved in real situations, then cross-referenced with selected texts, journals, papers and other documentation in an attempt to provide a balanced overview of each topic.*

When using the artenero site, please keep in mind that it is not designed as a definitive ‘how to’ manual. There are often alternative routes to the same end, each method as valid as another. Likewise, if an opinion has been expressed, it is a personal point of view that may not coincide with the opinions of others.

If you find the artenero website helpful, please pass the site's web address on to others who may find the contents of interest. Regular visitors can drag the small 'an' icon from the browser address bar into their 'favourites' bar to easily revisit that page. If you would like to contribute in some way, including content, page sponsorship, individual donation (please click on the link below for secure credit card payments), go to the CONTRIBUTE page. Feedback and your comments can be sent by email via the CONTACT page. Please note that I cannot recommend specific products or services.
