INTRODUCTION

Art foundries can carry out a wide range of finishing processes for their clients, services offered here can range from the basic fettling of a newly cast bronze, through to quite elaborate and highly skilled applications of metal leaf and chemical treatments on heavily worked castings.

This section of the website looks at the various stages of finishing a cast artwork in metal and describes some of the potential finishes that can be applied to the cast's surface. Some of the processes described here will only be carried out by specialist finishers rather than 'in house' at a foundry or metal workshop.
