CASE MOULD 1

Image shows a partially moulded pattern. A section of the pattern is prepared for the application of a plaster jacket, with a layer of clay over the pattern defining the eventual thickness of the rubber. Note the air risers set into the registration keys to aid distribution and the entrance at the top for pouring a fluid rubber compound

CASE MOULD 2

As each plaster case is completed, the rubber is poured to enable the next secton to be formed. In this instance, a completed case is prepared for pouring rubber. A temporary spout is constructed and the case secured to a solid base to prevent rubber leakage. As the rubber is poured in, the air risers are blocked off with clay, again to prevent leakage. Once the rubber has set, the next section can be prepared for moulding.

CASE MOULD 3

Once all the sections have had cases built and rubber poured in, the mould can be dissassembled. In this instance the mould of the pattern is formed in three sections. The negative image of the pattern can clearly be seen in the case at the back of the group, one piece has had the rubber section removed from the case to show the registration keys and other mould features.

CASE MOULD 4

This photgraph shows the mould fully assembled and set into a MOTHER or PARENT MOULD to secure the sections for wax pouring. To the left of the mould is a cap which fits over the open section of the mould to assist wax pouring. In total, this mould is made up of a total of eight separate elements.
